Have You Ever … Survived A Natural Disaster?!

Unless you’re living under a rock that doesn’t have Internet access or a twitter account, you know that yesterday, an earthquake rocked the east coast of the US. Friends of C&R as far north as Mel and as far south as VUBOQ reported feeling the 5.8 magnitude tremor.  (Why don’t we have any readers in the southern states?)

So what other natural disasters have you experienced?  We’re about to find out.

The rules are simple: For each question that you answer ‘yes’ to, give yourself a single point. When you reach the end of the quiz, add up your points and post your total in the comments.

  1. 3. Andy Dick made me laugh. Living in Manitoba and Ontario, really only blizzards apply. I missed the Ottawa quake last year when I was in Virginia (and freakily I missed the Virgina quake when I was in Ottawa, hmmmm). Also the year of the great ice-storm when people were without power for weeks here I was living in Poland and the year of the great power outage when it was out for a few days I was on vacation in PEI, didn’t even know till we were nearly home. I seem to be pretty good at managing to miss the dangerous weather by leaving town.

  2. 6 or 7, depending on how lenient of a threshold I use. I’d also add pure cold. Living in Minnesota, there were a couple of times when the blowing snow wasn’t a problem but the cold and wind (-70F wind chill) were enough. Other than that, the 2007 fires were probably the disaster that most directly affected me. I never got close enough to the fires to be in danger of burning, but the smoke was bad enough to make spending time outside a bad idea. The volcano I saw was at a hot springs resort in Costa Rica. You could see lava shooting out of the top of the volcano, but it was a slow, ongoing eruption.

  3. 2.5, wasn’t that bad of a blizzard. I usually don’t make comments, but…

Suck it, Jesus! I’m going to see Kathy Griffin on Saturday and I won a backstage meet and greet. Maybe I’ll ask Michelle to be my guest. If she reads this.

  4. 5!

Also, regarding your Southern states comment, 1. Maryland is a Southern state and 2. Poor David (aka Pixel and Typo’s dad) has been getting the short shrift from Cocky and Rude lately.
