The Case of the Bitchy Buffet Blower Bully

On July 4th, my mother took my grandparents (her parents) to a breakfast buffet. It wasn’t very crowded — there were probably 40 empty tables in the restaurant. The three of them were enjoying their meal until my mother’s attention was drawn to a woman at a neighboring table. She was noticeably agitated while her husband and young son were shoveling their faces full of food.

“Excuse me! Excuse me! EXCUSE ME!!” yelled the woman.

“Yes…?” questioned my mother.

“I’m trying to eat over here and he’s disgusting! He’s blowing his nose! IT’S DISGUSTING!” the woman said.

“What??” My mother was appalled.

“I’m trying to eat and he’s blowing his nose! DISGUSTING!!” She covered her mouth as if she was seconds from vomiting.

My mother responded with something completely inadequate along the lines of “Don’t worry about it, we’re leaving soon.” What makes the whole situation even more upsetting to me is that my grandparents are both hard-of-hearing (they’re in their late 80s/early 90s) and they didn’t even hear the woman.

“What did she say?” my grandmother asked. My mom repeated it to them.

“Oh…” said my grandfather, feeling embarrassed and a bit defeated. Picture a nice old man sitting at a table, quietly blowing his nose into a handkerchief. Is that scene really so horribly offensive?

When my mom told me the story, I was enraged. How dare that woman cross my grandfather? My mother should have cursed her out and then dumped the woman’s plate into her lap. If I were there, my response would have included at least three choice expletives. Then perhaps I would have spit into her face. People just don’t spit on each other enough these days.

Is public (and covered) nose blowing a disgusting offense? Or was that bitch just a bully? Tell me how you’d react!

It’s The Thursday Four!

My new haircut looks something like this.

Much like the ‘Friday Five’, the ‘Thursday Four’ is an exploration of great things.  …except there are four things instead of five.  …and it’s Thursday and not Friday.  …and it doesn’t really have the same ring as ‘Friday Five’.  OH WELL!  This week Michelle M. and I got together (figuratively, not literally) to present these four great things to you.  Read ‘em and weep, suckers!

1. Grooming myself! (and having other people groom me.)  This week I trimmed my beard really short, AND got a haircut!  I look marvelous!  I’d post a photo, but I’ve gotten so fat that I hardly look like myself anymore.  (Hurray for BC&RL3!)  Either that or I’m just super lazy tonight.  ANYWAY — I love having a closely shorn head and face.  Is that weird? -Adam

Fuck you, Chris Christie!

2. Chris Christie vetoed gay marriage!  After I’ve finally gotten over the fact that he fired every teacher in NJ, I needed a new reason to hate that fat Republican fuck.  And he did not disappoint — last week he vetoed gay marriage!  Yay Chris Christie!  Now I have a reason hate you forever.  If I ever see you in person, I promise to spit on you.  People just don’t spit on each other enough these days.  Unless they need emergency lubrication — but that’s a whole ‘nother story. -Adam

3. Downton Abbey* – what a great show. Season two has just ended, but there will be a season three, and Shirley MacLaine will play Lady Cora’s mother. Yay! Here is a clip from Saturday Night Live if you haven’t been watching and would like a rundown on the show. – Michelle M.

They see me rollin', they hatin', patrollin' Tryin' to catch me ridin' dirty.

4. And look! There are Downton Abbey paper dolls, in case you’re going through DA withdrawal like me. I love the faces for the Chicken Lady, er, Dowager Countess, O’Brien’s evil soap and Mr. Pamuk. – Michelle M.

Runners up: The Good Wife*, reusable shopping bags, complaining, spending other people’s money, liquid wart remover, lazy posts, pregnant ladies, selling crap on eBay, adorably tiny bottles of diet soda, eating like a pig before BC&RL3, and hardcore gay pornography.

That’s our Thursday Four … what’s yours?

*Why isn’t this show on Our T.V. Night??

How Many Things Did Adam Jam Into His Mouth?

Yesterday I jammed a lot of Kashi Autumn Wheat cereal into my mouth.

And I made quite a few strange faces.

So many, in fact, that I lost count of the crackers that I was stuffing into my food hole.

So I spit them all over my table!

And counted them all.

I was amazed by just how many had fit inside my mouth!

So how many do you think I fit into my mouth?

21!
Congratulations to Ty! You guessed right!

You win a damp pile of saliva-covered cereal biscuits! Woohoo!

Do you have a suggestion for what I should jam into my mouth next time?  Leave it in the comments!

10 Things To Do Before The World Ends

In case you haven’t heard … the end of the world is nearly upon us.  This Saturday, at 6pm EST, there will be a word-wide earthquake and God will Hoover all of his followers up to heaven. The rest of us sinners and non-believers will then be tormented with “hell on Earth” for 5 months until which time God will completely destroy Earth and the universe on October 21st.  That’s all according to the 91-year-old lunatic and president of the evangelical broadcast Family Radio, Harold Camping.  He and his followers have been spreading their word all over billboards, newspaper ads, protest signs and bus benches for quite a while now.

So just in case God skips over you when he’s rapturing all his followers up into the clouds (oh, and by the way, Camping hates the gays) … here are 10 suggestions for what you should spend your time doing over the next 5 months.

1. Take out as many loans and accept as many credit card offers as possible.  If you’re like me, you get credit card offers in your mailbox almost every day.  Why not accept … them all.  Also, visit every bank in town and take anything that they’re willing to loan you.  It’s not like you’ll ever have to pay any of it back!

2. Quit your job and ignore all of your responsibilities.  Jobs are for broke suckers that are planning for their future.  You only have 5 more months, and if you followed step #1, you’re loaded.  Why deal with those annoying coworkers and all the rest of your non-fun responsibilities if you don’t have to?  Quit!  Quit immediately!

3. Have lots and lots and lots and lots of sex. Whether it’s with your one true love, or you’re just banging every man, woman or goat in town … do it a lot.  Sex feels good, and if you only have 5 more months to enjoy it, then you better start sexifying every willing participant in sight.

4. Only eat food that’s delicious, even if it’s bad for you.  Drink a lot, and take up smoking.  Maybe even try some drugs.  Mmmm cookies, candy, vodka, cigarettes and acid.  They’re now the only food groups you need!

5. Spit in the faces of all your enemies. Walk up to them one at a time, and simply spit into their faces.  It’ll make you good, I promise.

6. Travel and see everything you’ve always wanted to see.  Assuming that all the roads aren’t jammed with other non-believers and the airplane pilots haven’t all been raptured, it’s time to travel.  You’re rich, so it’s time to travel the world.  Just avoid all of the steamping pits of lava and that whole “hell on Earth” thing.

7. Stop shaving. Oh wait … I hardly ever do that anyway.

8. Break some stuff.  Store windows.  Church windows.  Car windows.  All windows.  Mirrors, sculptures, crystal vases, plates, art, chandeliers, expensive things, national monuments… they’re all on my list.

9. Punch horrible people in the face. Donald Trump.  Sarah Palin.  Justin Bieber.  George W. Bush.  Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann, Rush Limbaugh, Jay Leno, Muammar Gaddafi. You’re all on my list!

10. Eat meat.  See what you’ve been missing all this time.  It’s all gunna die anyway…

11. OOPS!  And I almost forgot: Spend a lot of time with the people you love.  So what are you going to do during the next (and last) five months of your life?  Assuming, of course, that God doesn’t slurp you up to heaven tomorrow.
