It’s a C&R Dance Party!

Forget the CD Exchange (if I don’t participate, it doesn’t exist) let’s have a music exchange right here at Cocky & Rude!  Each time we have a C&R Dance Party, I’ll name a theme for the day and you’ll post your responses in the form of a YouTube video in the comments.  And don’t forget to dance!

Today’s Theme Is: A Song That Makes You Wanna Dance!

I don’t claim to be a HUGE Madonna fan, but I’ve been listening to her tunes since I was a little kid. I remember sitting in the back of my mom’s car during INCREDIBLY long car rides (approx. 45 minutes) to my grandparent’s house. She’d blare Madonna music, and I’d scream when she took her hands off of the steering wheel to dance along with Vogue. For me, it’s safety first, Madonna second. And now, 20-something years later, I can’t stop dancing to Vogue either. My mom had* good taste (but don’t tell her I said that).

*Yes, “had” — now she listens to Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. Blechk!

As many of you know: I’M CRAZY ABOUT TELEVISION!  But I’m going to go way back to when I was in the single-digits and pick Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears!  I still know all the lyrics and sing it more often that I’d like to admit! Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears was Disney‘s first major serialized animated television series and is often credited by animators and animation historians as having helped jump start the television animation boom of the late 1980s and 1990s. Consequently, it also became the forerunner to Disney’s famous Disney Afternoon timeslot, which gave way to other famous serialized Disney television series, such as DuckTales, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, and Bonkers.  (Most of which also have GREAT theme songs!!!)

Now it’s your turn!

Mikey, Ty and Mr. Sombrero already know this (because I may or may not have performed it at a recent karaoke party) … but I’m a sucker for the late ’80s to mid ’90s Disney movies!  I know all the words to the songs from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and a bunch of the other great animated films from that era.  By far, my favorite is A Whole New World from Aladdin.  Here it is, for your viewing pleasure:

I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head for months (ever since Enrico told me about it)!  I sing it in the car, in the shower, when I’m at home, and even when I’m at work (much to the behest of my coworkers).  But to be clear, the song that is stuck in my head is not singing the Glee version (why is Blaine on stage wearing a messenger bag?) or the dumb version from the radio where they added the annoying extra drum beat.  For your listening pleasure, here’s Gotye‘s Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra):
