Two years ago, I was a bundle of excited energy. For the first time since I was of voting age, my candidate for President actually stood a good chance of winning. He also would have the opportunity to lead the country when control of both legislative houses were in control of his own party. This year the election is starting to look quite different. A bunch of crazy teabaggers started to get all worked up over the direction our country was headed. They all seem to have some weird ideas about where that is and they would have a lot of trouble articulating it (and don’t even ask them to spell it). What they can communicate is fear and thinking that having a government at all somehow makes it too big. Have things really changed that much in the US? How did we go from an election where progress and change were the watchwords to one where there are numerous viable candidates who think that there is not Constitutional separation between church and state? What do the teabaggers really stand for? Here are some teabaggers to keep your eyes on tomorrow.

Sharon Angle
Perhaps the queen of the teabaggers, Mrs. Angle has some extremely reactionary beliefs. When she was a member of the State Assembly in Nevada, she voted “no” on widely accepted issues the voting records were called “41 to Angle.” She thinks that there is no constitutional separation of church and state, but feels the Department of Education is illegal. She also thinks that if your dad rapes you and gets you pregnant you should suck it up and have the kid. Such responsible leadership can not go without note.

Carl Paladino
Carl Paladino looks like the devil, but I think to call him the devil would be unfair to the devil. This man regularly erupts into violent tirades against colleagues and reporters. He also sent racist and sexist emails to people who worked for him. Paladino does not stand much of a chance of defeating Cuomo in the NY Gubernatorial election, but somehow I think it will be very entertaining to see what he does after he is defeated.

Christine O’Donnell
We have covered this pearly wonder before on the blog. This teabagging witch from Delaware has been making headlines since she landed an upset in the primary. She is the one who thinks that every form of sexual expression is morally wrong. But if that’s true, why does she always have a pearl necklace?

I could probably go on and on about all the teabagging that happened during this election, but I think this election themed parody of “Don’t Stop Believing” does it better than I ever could.
